The steps performed by you are absolutely right. Unfortunately, I was unable to understand the issue that you are facing.

I thought maybe it was the devices I was plugging in digital camera and MP3 player but a friend of mine told me that it could be that my imports have gone bad. Fix a corrupted user profile. I then refered to the second article you recommended. Manual Configuration or Automatic Update. I ran fix-it and this is the message that popped up: Sorry this didn’t help.
