I actually got it working just a few mintes ago with madwifi and this http: Open Source Consulting Domain Registration. Perfect distribution supporting atheros wifi. Results 1 to 6 of 6. Connection troubles with Atheros AR5BMB5
First, I was able to duplicate the problem using WiCD, where no wireless networks are shown until I get sufficiently close to one of any number of wireless routers, atheors all the wireless networks within range appear. I tried calling there customer support, and the first guy I talked to said that they do not offer support for linux, and that I should reload windows with the cd I have.
